The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS Delhi) is an autonomous public medical institute set up in 1956 under the AIIMS Act. It is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, regulated by the National Medical Commission and not affiliated to any university.

NIRF 2025 ranks AIIMS Delhi 1st in Medical and 8th Overall; in the QS Life Sciences and Medicine ranking it is 1st in South Asia and 204th globally. The 213-acre Ansari Nagar campus has a hospital of 3,657 beds with over 4.8 million outpatient visits a year.

MBBS (132 seats) is admitted only through NEET UG and MCC counselling under 100% All India Quota, with a total programme fee of roughly INR 5,356. There is no management or NRI quota. The 2026-27 MBBS cycle is in its final counselling stage.

MBBS eligibility and selection

  • Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
  • At least 60% in PCB for General and OBC; 45% for SC/ST.
  • Valid NEET UG score for the current cycle; minimum age 17 years by 31 December of the admission year.
  • All MBBS seats are filled via MCC counselling; there is no direct application to AIIMS Delhi.

AIIMS Delhi is the most competitive MBBS seat in India. In recent MCC rounds the General category closing NEET rank has been roughly between 47 and 53; EWS and OBC closing ranks fall in about the 100 to 300 range.

AIIMS Delhi Placements

AIIMS Delhi does not run conventional campus placements. MBBS graduates continue to postgraduate training through NEET PG or INI CET, and many join AIIMS Delhi residency itself. There is no rural service bond after MBBS.
